My name is Tim Irwin. In 1956 all four of my grandparents moved to Pakistan, from small towns in Indiana and Illinois. Both of my parents were born in Pakistan, my mother in Tank (now in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas), and my father on a dining room table in Murree during a monsoon downpour as a doctor traveling on a horse struggled to arrive in time.

I was born in Indianapolis, a year and a half before my parents moved back to Pakistan. Both of my sisters were born in Qalandarabad, in the same hospital both of my grandmothers worked in for many years. Ten miles from Abbottabad, where Osama bin Laden was killed.

We moved to America in 2000, when I was 15. After graduating high school and college, my wife studied for her Masters degree while I sold copiers business-to-business in Ohio. We then moved to Indianapolis, where I currently work for one of the largest film festivals in the Midwest.
